  1. Immigration in Kansas Today - Eudora Area Historical Society Program

    January 18, 2018, 7:00 PM @ Community Room

The Eudora Area Historical Society is hosting a program titled "Immigration in Kansas Today" on Thursday January 18 at 7 pm at the Eudora Community Center (Community Room). The program is sponsored by the Kansas Humanities Council and presented by KSU Professor Matthew Sanderson. The story of Kansas has largely been a story of immigration. This presentation explores how immigration today compares to immigration since the 1860s, connecting the trends in the benefits and challenges that communities face when new people move in. Looking at history, how can today’s Kansas towns and neighborhoods develop socially and ecologically resilient communities? The social processes of integrating new cultures into our increasingly shared space will be examined, as well as the impact of changing demographics. The Eudora Community Museum plans to explore the history of immigration in 2018. In the Fall of 2018, we will host a special exhibit on the history of "Immigration in Douglas County."
