City Commission

The City of Eudora has a Commission-Manager form of government. In this form of government, the City Commission is the governing body of the city, elected by the public, and the City Manager is hired by the City Commission to carry out the policies it establishes.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the City Commission include: 

  • providing legislative direction to the City Manager 
  • setting policy
  • approving the City's annual budget
  • determining the tax rate
  • adopting City ordinances
  • entering into major contracts for the City
  • making major land use decisions
  • setting ballot questions

Members and Election Cycles

The Eudora City Commission consists of five at-large members. Their terms are four years each, with elections on a cycle every two years. Two commissioners will be elected for a four-year term, with the three other commissioners’ four-year term starting two years later. Each January, the Commission appoints a mayor among itself.

Mayor Reazin has a Bachelor’s Degree from Bethany College and has been a Eudora resident since 1997. He and his wife, Lynn, have four sons Caleb, Zeke, Nate, and Gabe. Mayor Reazin works for the City of Lawrence as a firefighter. Mayor Reazin has also volunteered at the City of Eudora Fire Department for eleven years. 

In his free time, Mayor Reazin enjoys traveling with his family, coaching his boys' football teams, photography, and woodworking.

Jolene Born Commissioner

Jolene Cullen

Term Expires: January 2026

Jolene has a Master’s in Criminal Justice and works for Douglas County Criminal Justice Services as the Behavioral Health Court Supervision Officer.  

Aside from her time with the City Commission, she also works as an at home travel agent.  

Commissioner Cullen has served on the commission since 2013.

Alex Curnes

Alex Curnes has a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Kansas and works as a manager for a large Kanas City Retailer.

Commissioner Curnes has served on the commission since 2022.
