About Eudora
Nestled amid gently rolling hills between the lush river valleys of the Wakarusa (an Indian word meaning "Hip-deep") River to the west and north and the mighty Kaw River to its north, Eudora, Kansas, offers the very best of small-town life. From exquisite Victorian homes like the National Historic Registered Pilla House, to older tree-lined streets of houses straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting, to modern suburban housing developments, Eudora has something for everyone.
Strategic Location
Founded in 1857, Eudora flourished because of its strategic location near the Oregon and Santa Fe trails, which crossed just a few miles south of Eudora, and near the confluence of the Kansas and Wakarusa rivers. The Eudora Community Museum operated by the Eudora Area Historical Society maintains numerous exhibits devoted to Eudora’s unique history. Our historic downtown provides a mix of retail establishments, restaurants, and professional and city offices, while nearby Kansas Highway 10 visitors can find additional shopping and entertainment opportunities. Just outside of Eudora are two award-winning vineyards. And finally, with easy access to the City of Lawrence, home of the University of Kansas, and the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, Eudora offers a small-town atmosphere with convenient access to “big city” amenities.
