1. What days will trash service accept bulk items?

Bulk collection of larger items, such as household furniture, appliances, bicycles, etc. will be made on the first service day of your collection each month. Appliances containing refrigerant must be responsibly evacuated before disposal. For more information visit Honey Creek Disposal’s website.

2. What do I need to do to get my dog out of the pound?

3. How do I request or return an extra trash cart?

Contact the city office at (785) 542-2153, option 3 or by email located at: Departments/Administrative Services/Utility Billing.

4. What animals are not allowed inside the City Limits?

Animals not allowed inside the city limits - shall include, but shall not be limited to, cattle, horses, mules, goats, fowl, hogs, sheep, and undomesticated animals.

Fowl shall include, but shall not be limited to, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, guineas and pigeons.

Undomesticated animal means and includes any wild mammal, reptile or fowl which is not naturally tame but is of wild nature or disposition.

However any person may petition the governing body for a permit to keep animals otherwise prohibited by subsection (a) above and the governing body may grant such permit upon finding that the keeping of such animals will not constitute a nuisance or otherwise be detrimental to the public welfare of the city, and upon payment of an annual permit fee, as set by resolution of the governing body.

5. What type of grave decorations are allowed?

6. What is not allowed as decorations?

All bushes, plantings of floral pieces (either annual or perennial) upon individual graves or lots.
No fences, benches, hedges, shrubbery, floral pieces (either annual or perennial), landscaping or enclosures of any kind.
