1. Does trash need to be placed in a bag before it is put in the cart?

Trash bags are not required, but placing household waste in bags will help keep the cart sanitary. 

2. Can I use my trash cart for yard waste?

No. Yard waste needs to be placed in compostable craft paper bags specifically designed for yard waste or bundled for collection. Plastic bags are not allowed. 

3. What if I need more than one trash cart?

Residents who find one cart is not enough can request additional 95 gallon carts at a charge of $4.00 a month. 

4. Can I use my personal cart?

No. The carts provided by Honey Creek are designed to withstand the demands of the truck’s equipment placed on them. Please use the supplied cart. 

5. What are the dimensions of the cart?

The standard issued cart is 95 gallons measuring approximately 29" wide, 34" deep, and 45" tall. The footprint on the ground is just slightly larger than a standard 30 gallon refuse container. 

6. What do I do with extra trash if my cart is full?

You can request an additional cart for $4.00 per month or you can buy a bag tag at Eudora City Hall for $1.00 per tag. 

7. What do I do if my cart is lost or damaged?

Please contact Honey Creek Disposal at 913-369-8999 for replacement or repair. Damage from abuse or modifications to the cart are the responsibility of the customer. Please do not modify the cart. 

8. What do I do with my cart if I move?

The cart is to remain at your old address. The carts are assigned to each address, not the customer. 

9. When and where can I leave my cart at the curb?

When: Place your cart on the curb by 7:00 AM on the day of collection. The cart must be removed within 24 hours after collection. 

Where: Place cart within 3 feet of the curb and at least 3 feet from any obstructions. The arrows should be facing the street and the handle facing your house.

10. What can I recycle?

Accepted recyclables include plastics, paper and cardboard, cans, and glass bottles. Use the graphic below as a guide to determine what can and cannot be recycled:

11. Can I upgrade to a 95 gallon recycling cart?

Yes, please call City Hall at 785-542-2153 option 3 to request the larger size. There is no additional charge for upgrading to a 95 gallon recycling cart. 

12. Can I opt out of curbside recycling?

If you prefer to not participate in curbside recycling, you may return your cart to Honey Creek by calling Eudora City Hall at 785-543-2153, option 3. However, you will still be charged for recycling in your monthly bill, which is the regular rate. There is no option to opt out of the regular rate. 

13. Do I qualify for a decreased recycling rate?

Residents aged 65 or older qualify for a reduced rate, regardless of income. Any senior resident wanting to opt into this reduced rate must first contract the City’s utility department by visiting City Hall of calling 785-542-2153, option 3. 

14. How does yard waste collection work?

Yard waste needs to be placed in compostable craft paper bags specifically designed for yard waste or bundled for collection. Honey Creek will accept up to 12 bags of yard waste per trash day. Bundled hedge and tree trimming must not be more than 18 inches around, 4 feet long, or weigh more than 45 pounds.
